Custom Technology Solutions of Macon has been serving the Middle Georgia
area faithfully since the first day our doors opened. We've done a bit
of everything from building and selling custom desktops and workstations
to offering internet services like web and e-mail hosting to end-to-end
network creation and maintenance. Our experience is every bit as deep
as it is broad. For more information on what we've done for specific
clients, check our Clients page where we list references and work
descriptions. Here, you can find what we have to say about ourselves,
straight from the horse's mouth.
Hulan Thompson, CEO
After working for a major corporation in the southeast for forty years
I felt it was time to try something else in life. I had spent the last
five years guiding, among other areas, the IT department for my
company. This was enough to spark an interest in me to form my own IT
company. Realizing this is a younger persons area of expertise, I
surrounded myself with the best talent I could find. My mission statement
was to establish a company with integrity that would treat all customers
with respect and dignity, while also turning a reasonable profit, and
creating a work environment that was fun for myself and my employees.
This was nearly three years ago, and to date we have not lost a single
customer. We have tried various types of advertising but have found
that having satisfied customers is the best advertising possible.
Alan Hicks, Network Engineer
Before coming to work at CTSMacon, I had spent two years working for a
similar, if ultimately unsuccessful, company. When I first began I knew very
little about computers, but found them a fascinating new challenge. I
soon fell in love with the work and dove head first into learning as
much as possible about them. Like many people my age, I had had video
games and some familiarity with computers, but nothing had prepared me
for such a fast-paced innovative field.
For perhaps the first year I struggled in a game of catch-up with the
rest of the industry, but soon I began to find that learning more would
require me to get out and do more, rather than sit back and read on
what other people had done. With that attitude, I took on a number of
projects, some big, some small, some more than I could readily chew!
Some were impossible, and some I was told were impossible. I'm proud
to say that I've proved the nay-sayers wrong more than once.
Today, most of the new solutions being developed by CTSMacon are my
creation. While I am by no means a gifted programmer, I have been
blessed with an extraordinary ability to take vastly different pieces
and weld them together into a homogeneous solution. Some of my
achievements include fault-tolerant servers, reliable machines with
uptimes well over 2 years, security hardened servers, and high
performance machines. To date, my most public, and perhaps greatest
achievement has been the publishing of Slackware Linux Essentials
Second Edition, a book on the popular GNU/Linux operating system
avaiable both online and in
print. I was also one-fourth of a team we called SlackSec. We
published third-party security updates for the popular
Slackware Linux operating system while it's maintainer was too ill
to work. Later, we worked with a second third-party group in this
role, and were publically thanked in Slackware's Changelog.
